Life in a dry and dusty land

Today, our 15 growing chicks moved from their indoor habitat to the outdoor chicken coop. We pray they grow to be strong and healthy chickens that produce eggs for our family and friends.
Abby and I added pink vinca's and purple mexican heather to my Mother's Day garden. They give a colorful edge to the garden's butterfly bush and four rose bushes. I long for flowers full of color in this dry and dusty land. (I had wonderful gardens in Maryland and I miss them often.) Flowers remind me of the everlasting life we posess as believers in Jesus. Life in this desert has often reminded me of Psalm 63 "O Lord, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water. . . . I sing for joy in the shadow of your protecting wings. I will follow close behind you; your strong right hand holds me securely. . . ."
